Home at last

We came home from Hawaii to find our walk way to the front door covered in balloons, and signs and even more balloons. 

Each of the kids wrote a little something. Poor Bay's said, " I cried for you every night" Poor girl. This was the first time we have been away from the kids for this long.

Of course we had brought home some fun little things for the kids.We bought each kid a lei and a t-shirt. Logan wanted us to bring him back a ukulele. Good thing we found one at a little shop for 15 bucks. In Hawaii there were ukuleles for hundreds of dollars!

Random fun

After posting about our amazing trip to Hawaii, it makes me want to go back again! It was so much fun. Here are some random pics that I wanted to share.

We rode the trolley a lot. It was cheap and we got to see the entire city.

 Every where we ate we had the option of having spam. They even had macadamia nuts covered in spam.

 As we were driving up to North Shore we saw a fruit stand and just had to stop. We bought a ton of fresh fruit and even tried coconut juice from a freshly picked coconut. It was NASTY lol

 We spent some time at Sunset Beach. It was a beautiful beach.

 While at the mall we saw this

Well that was our trip in what seemed like a thousand posts. I can't wait to go back. Next time we want to explore a different island.

Cool trees!

The trees in Hawaii are amazing! The roots grow downward from the branches.

We had a fun time playing around in this huge tree.

Pearl Harbor

Going to see Pearl Harbor was a pretty sobering experience. When you realize that over 1,100 men are entombed within the memorial, and that after 71 years the ship is still leaking oil, it makes you  feel some emotional attachment to what these people have been through 

We took a 5min boat ride out to the USS Arizona Memorial, where we stayed for 20min and took the boat back to the shore.

Leis were thrown down into the rusty turrets.

I would love to wear this as a charm on a necklace. They call it the tree of life. Simply beautiful!

Even after 71 years, the USS Arizon seems to still weep. You can still see oil leaking up from the sunken ship. Some say that it's the tears of the thousand sailors who went down with their ship on that day of "infamy."

Walking around the grounds we saw a lot of really neat things.

Wheeling in the jungle

 Up in North Shore at Kualoa Ranch we were able to go on a Jungle expedition. Kuakoa Ranch  is rich with Hawaiian history and it has also been the backdrop for a slew of famous Hollywood films like Jurassic Park, Mighty Joe Young, Pearl Harbor, Wind Talkers, LOST,  50 first dates, you me and Dupree, and George of the jungle. We went wheeling through the jungle and eve through some water.  This sure was a bumpy ride. Exactly what we wanted, we even sat in the back to get more of a ride.
