Zoo

This weekend my mom took us to the zoo. It was a lot of fun and the weather was perfect.

Apparently my kids are the size of apes lol
While at the zoo this weekend they had some special attractions on display.
They boys were in heaven when they saw the bat mobile!! This car was actually in one of the Batman movies.
Avery loved the animals. This was her first time at the zoo, and boy did she get excited when she saw the giraffes

Birthday banner

My friend Katrina's little boy turned 3 this past week and I was asked to make his birthday banner. Since his theme for his party was trucks, I came up with this

Choral collection

Bay had her Choral Collection recital on Friday night. She loves to sing and dance and this singing and dancing class is so perfect for her.
At the beginning of the choral year they give everyone a cd that has all of the songs that they will perform. It helps the kids remember the words to the songs. One of the songs they performed was called Hot Hot Hot. Bay would listen to this cd in the car on her cd player. Bay would sing so loud. She couldn't hear herself while wearing her head phones. When she would sing the song Hot Hot Hot she would use a Jamaican accent. Morgan and I would die laughing listening to her "sing," all da people, they keep on rockin' singin' hot hot hot :)

Hair cut

So after letting Bay grow her hair out for a while it was time to go back to the "Bailey" cut. I figured it was getting warmer and Bay was tired of getting snarls. So we cut off.........are you ready? 5 1/2 inches!!!!!!!! Crazy huh?

Before
After

It's always been her staple hair cut. It fits her personality and her hair is so straight it lays perfectly!

Cavanaugh's

We went to Mrs. Cavanaugh's with some friends over spring break. It was a lot of fun. My favorite part was the yummy sample of chocolate we got at the end.

The kids got to see the factory and how chocolate peanut clusters are made. It was cool to watch this lady play in the chocolate :) My kind of job
Forget love.......I'd rather fall in CHOCOLATE!

Do I dare?

So a few weeks ago I decided the weather was looking good and I packed up all of the kids boots, snow pants, hats and gloves. I mean after all it was April right? Well last week we got 6 inches of snow!! Come on! So I had to go and unpack all of the kids snow stuff. Well yesterday and today it has been in the high 60's. Morgan put the tramp back up, tilled the garden and trimmed up some bushes. I got to thinking, maybe it is time to put the boots away, but do I dare?

I wasn't clever enough to take pictures of all of our snow but my neighbor did. Can you believe how much we got!!??

Teething

It has been no fun around here lately. Avery is teething and has been acting like a bear!! She cries and cries. It doesn't help that I have taken her off of the bottle. She still gets frustrated with her cups. She has a total of 7 teeth. 4 on top and 3 on bottom. Let's hope they all come in soon so I can have my little happy girl back (and a happy mommy)

StRaWbErRy JaM

Have you ever tasted homemade jam? It's the best!! Last year I made raspberry jam and it was yummy! This year I tried something different and made strawberry jam. It turned out just as yummy and I got a great deal on my berries. 88 cents a box! I was able to make 5 jars and I still have 3 boxes of strawberries left. I might have to make some more.

My counter went from looking like this
To this

Last year I used a powder pectin to make my jam. It was okay, I just hated having to boil the sugar and pectin on the stove. This year I wanted to try out a pectin that didn't require as much sugar.

This year I bought this by accident.
When I got home I realized it was liquid pectin. By using liquid pectin, it cut out the boiling and my jam was made in half the time!! I'm hooked! No more powder pectin for my jam!
If you look back up at the picture of the jam, you can tell which ones were made on the stove and the ones that were not. The first two were made with the powder pectin and the last three with the liquid pectin. I bought both because I wanted to try the one with less sugar and see how it tasted.

Coloring eggs

It's been tradition for the past 3 years to color easter eggs at my moms house. This year we decided to make monster eggs. The monster egg kit came with eyes, teeth and of course hair! The kids had fun and I think Luis and my mom had a little fun too!

After coloring our eggs we hid them in the back yard for the kids.
Avery really got the hang of it.

We had a delicious ham that my mom made for lunch. It was very yummy.

Easter morning

The Easter bunny always hides the kids easter baskets in funny places. This year Bay's basket ended up on top of the pantry. Logan found his basket in my craft closet. Carson found his behind the rocking horse and Avery found hers in front of my plant stand. In years past the bunny has hid the kids baskets in the oven, on top of our car out in the garage and in the dryer. As you can see, the older the kids get, the harder it is for them to find their baskets.

Avery loved eating candy....all day

Easter outfit

Here are the kids in their cute Easter outfits. It was weird not going to church on Easter, being that Easter landed on conference weekend. I just had the kids wear their outfits the Sunday before Easter. Don't you love the colors!?

Day two

Today is the second day Avery has been without her bottle. Usually by the kiddos first birthday I take them away. For some reason I have let Avery have hers a little longer, only 22 days longer :) I guess I have let her keeps hers for two reasons. First, she is my last and by letting her keep it, it's kinda like keeping her my little baby and second, it's easier! Avery gets so frustrated with a sippy cup. It's like a fight every time she wants a drink. She takes one sip and freaks out! I guess she likes the soft tip rather than a hard one. It took me this long to figure it out. Now that we switched to a rubber spout she is doing much better. As for the binki, umm I'm a slacker on that end as well. But she only gets it at church! It's kinda a way to keep her quiet lol
