Alice in Wonderland

Happy 9th birthday Bailey! Wow 9. Really? Where has the time gone? My baby is growing up on me. For Bay's birthday party, I decided to do an Alice in Wonderland theme. It was so much fun!
About a week before her party I had Bay's friends come over and have a pre birthday screening of the original movie, Alice in Wonderland. With the new weird version of Alice in Wonderland out, I wasn't sure the girls had seen the old version or not. So we popped some popcorn, ate lots of junk food, and even had a pillow fight.

The girls just had to hit Morgan with their pillows

The BIG day has arrived!
I wanted to have a tea party Mad Hatter style. So I went to DI and bought all different types of tea cups and plates. I also found some tea pots.

I found these clay pots at the DI and I added roses to them that I bought at the dollar store. I then painted the white ones ever so red and added some playing cards to the mix. I made sure to use the number 9 cards from two decks of playing cards.
I punched holes into some playing cards and ran some ribbon through them to make a banner. I decided to have it run down the table.

I made paper lanterns and hung them from the ceiling with fishing line. It made them look like they were floating.

All the girls ready to eat!
We ate tea sandwiches
And we had some "tea" to wash things down.
I found these awesome Mad Hatter hats on the Oriental Trading Company website.
I had lots of things for the girls to glue on to their hats. Glitter, gems, feathers, pom poms, and even some 10/6 cards that I made.
I made the girls some Alice in Wonderland pendants using mini square glass pieces, liquid glass, printouts of characters from the movie, and some clasps.
I wanted to have some fun crafts that were easy and related to the movie. I remember when I was younger I made some roses using Hershey kisses, red cellophane, floral wire, and floral tape. And there you have it, a rose bud.

This was my first time making my own fondant. I have to say that it was harder to work with than just my usual frosting. The yellow fondant turned out great, but the green gave me the hardest time! I was up til 2:30 in the morning figuring this cake out!
What would an Alice in Wonderland party be without a little game of croquet?
I found these over sized playing cards and bent them to make the wickets.
Time to sing happy birthday to the birthday girl!! Sparklers added the perfect touch.
Of course there was no way that
Bay was going to actually blow out the "candles" so she had a little help from the guests.

Present time!

Morgan and I got Bay a sewing machine! I figure that we both can learn together.

Silly girls

Party favors
I made some flower pens and added some eyes to them.
I found some wax bottles at the dollar store and I immediately thought of Alice in Wonderland.
I had so much fun planning this party. I still can't believe Bay is 9. My how fast they grow.
