StRaWbErRy JaM

Have you ever tasted homemade jam? It's the best!! Last year I made raspberry jam and it was yummy! This year I tried something different and made strawberry jam. It turned out just as yummy and I got a great deal on my berries. 88 cents a box! I was able to make 5 jars and I still have 3 boxes of strawberries left. I might have to make some more.

My counter went from looking like this
To this

Last year I used a powder pectin to make my jam. It was okay, I just hated having to boil the sugar and pectin on the stove. This year I wanted to try out a pectin that didn't require as much sugar.

This year I bought this by accident.
When I got home I realized it was liquid pectin. By using liquid pectin, it cut out the boiling and my jam was made in half the time!! I'm hooked! No more powder pectin for my jam!
If you look back up at the picture of the jam, you can tell which ones were made on the stove and the ones that were not. The first two were made with the powder pectin and the last three with the liquid pectin. I bought both because I wanted to try the one with less sugar and see how it tasted.

I have never tried to make jam. I keep thinking I will. Patrick would LOVE it if I made homemade strawberry jam! I'll need you to give me lessons next time we get together! :)

So which jam do you like better (taste wise)???

I think they both taste good but the liquid pectin is like 3 times as expensive. So if you don't mind a little boiling it is much more cost effective to go with the powder.

Good job Melissa! :)
